Just like natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds are real diamonds. Lab grown diamonds share the same optical and chemical characteristics as natural diamonds. These diamonds can be produced using two distinct methods: HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) and CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition).

Both types of diamonds use carbon as their main element, but lab-grown diamonds lack nitrogen which is how gemologists can identify the two. When purchasing diamonds, the easiest way to check whether it’s lab-grown or natural is to check the diamond’s certificate.
