We are on it now! Your free ring sizer should be with you in the next 3-7 working days.
In Sanskrit, Sacet translates to ‘conscious’: this is at the heart of everything we do. In order to uphold this approach, we needed to create an environment which facilitates for creative expression and collaboration. The design of our workshop allows for these elements to flourish and transform into the beautiful and ethical jewellery we create.
When we started building our artisan workshop, we had one particular mantra in mind: beauty inside reflects beauty outside. The open green land of Maharashtra, India, was therefore the perfect setting for this mantra to be realised. The surrounding environment acts as a constant inspiration to maintain the sustainable approach we bring to our jewellery. Although lush and green, Maharashtra is also one of the most productive parts of India. We looked to achieve the perfect balance between these two elements by creating a workshop which encouraged productivity and respected the surrounding countryside.
Firstly, we designed the building to be as energy efficient as possible, allowing for natural light to flood the rooms and reduce the need for electric lighting. We installed solar panels to power a large portion of the electricity that we do use – we are on the path to being entirely solar-powered. The building’s foundation is made from fly ash bricks, which consists of waste products from combusted coal. If left unused, fly ash is carried into the air and contaminates the environment; we are proud to take this material and put it to good use.
Whilst the building’s construction is conscious of its effects on the planet, its design is conscious of the people that work there. Without the people we work with, we cannot fulfil our vision for ethical jewellery, so it was vital to create an environment which created a healthy working lifestyle. We therefore included collaborative workspaces, green spaces and social areas in its design to encourage creativity, social interaction and collaboration. These three elements are key to creating intricate and beautiful pieces of jewellery. Our collaborative approach ensures the high-quality of our pieces because each person influences the outcome with their care and skill.
Our workshop in Maharashtra is the embodiment of Sacet’s foundations as a company. We hope that there are people out there who feel that the beauty of the jewellery they wear, reflects the beauty of their soul. We certainly believe that, which is why we constantly look to develop our work environments to allow this message to transfer into the creation of our collections. The next step is to become entirely powered by solar energy, but we aren’t happy to stop there. Once that’s achieved, we will find another way to better the environment of our workers and its effects on the planet, because we believe that people and the planet should be treated with fairness, respect and love.
